To get money back from a scammer and stop him from further doing these

I posted in this sub this morning, I wanted to know the proper procedure behind getting my borrowed money back. Turns out he is a scammer. I went through my friend list and found out that he scammed at least 20 members and it seems he scammed a huge amount in his university too. How do I put this man behind bars? I don’t want this type of criminals to roam freely. Please let me know how I can proceed legally.

Even I’m facing through one such case. Really want to know is there any legal procedure through which we can punish such money scammers?
