To what extent are black/tinted glasses allowed in cars in India?

Is there a blanket ban on tinted glasses in cars, or is it allowed to a limited extend for civilian/non-VIP cars?

If it is allowed, what to say if the cops stop the car?

Asking because the summer is really scorching and there’s real need for a better way of keeping shade than sticking nets on the car windows.
