February 14, 2025 at 6:18 pmSo, the thing is – This is 9.45 PM at night on 14th of Feb, i.e. Valentines Day, my father returns home and sees a scooty parked just a bit infront of our gate. There’s enough space for us to drive in our own vehicle inside, but the thing is that the scooty is parked as if someone has visited our place. We have four units on rent, with University students living in them ( mostly girls ). We enquired the tenants of two units and asked if someone has visited them, and they replied no. We wanted to enquire the other two tenants but one of them was asleep and the lights of their rooms were off, and the other room girl wasn’t willing to come out even after pressing the calling bell. The scooty outside is an NTORQ 125 with an ML05 ( Meghalaya ) number plate. The two tenant rooms whom we couldn’t enquire are from Meghalaya, so we suspect them to have some unknown visitor in, which they didn’t inform of. It’s almost midnight and the scooty is still outside, What to do, just in case something goes wrong ? -

February 14, 2025 at 6:28 pmI’d suggest installing some cctv. Since you’re also providing renting facility, you can’t really control the tenants 24×7 If something happens you’d atleast be able to have some clue as to who entered or left the premises.Note the scooty number for now. If anything happens give it to the police and they’ll bring the owner in for enquiry.
For future, give tenants strict instructions about who can and cannot come and at what time. Prior information must be provided before bringing any outsider into the building.

February 14, 2025 at 9:03 pmGet a life, sheesh! If you have done background checks on your tenants and dont have probable cause to suspect any illegal activity, mind your own business! As lomg as they are paying rent on time and dont have people living there that are not on the lease, you cant do jack. Landlords forcing tenants to inform about guests should be illegal. If anything you tenants should be on here asking legal advice to sue you for invasion of privacy! Let them live their life and donβt you dare moral police anyone again! -

February 15, 2025 at 6:43 amTenants have to inform you about their visitors? This is not a hostel and midnight or morning, they should be able to visit.
