UI hope you all are doing well. I wanted to share a personal milestone in my legal career. I practice in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. I am pleased to share that yesterday, I argued an SLP before the Hon’ble Supreme Court concerning the quashing of an FIR filed under Sections 376(2)(n), 415, and 506 of the IPC. The case involves a situation where the Petitioner and Respondent were in a consensual relationship. When the relationship ended, the Respondent filed an FIR against the Petitioner under the aforementioned sections, alleging that the Petitioner had engaged in a physical relationship based on a false promise of marriage.
The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India issued notice in the matter and granted a stay on any coercive action against the Petitioner in connection with the said FIR.

DJust curious. Do a lot of such cases float up all the way to the Supreme court or is it just high profile cases (in terms of popularity or cases related to influential folks) that reach there.

UNo this is not a high profile case. All kinds of cases from all the sections of society come to the Supreme Court. It’s a common misconception that only the rich and elites of the society can go and fight their matters in the Supreme Court. And yes, cases of such nature are there in Supreme Court.
