My friend (21 years old) and I (19 years old) have been falsely implicated in a case. I am from Kashmir, and my friend is from Punjab. We had come to Delhi for a business meeting regarding our startup, on which we had been working very hard. Our past records are completely clean, with no prior cases against us. We both have good academic and professional backgrounds.

We successfully met the person with whom we had scheduled a meeting in Delhi. Over time, we became acquainted, and he introduced us to one of his friends who wanted to purchase USDT worth β‚Ή35 lakh. That person handed over β‚Ή35 lakh in cash to a local in Delhi, expecting to receive the USDT by 4 PM. However, the USDT did not arrive at the promised time. He extended the deadline twice, but even then, the USDT was not delivered.

Eventually, he told us that he would stay with us until he received his USDT. Since he and his friend had no place to stay, they came to our hotel, where we were staying. He stayed with us for two days, but the USDT never arrived. Since it was getting late and things were not going as expected, he called his father and informed him about the situation, saying, β€œSir, I have given β‚Ή35 lakh, what should I do now?” His father apologized and assured him that he would receive either his USDT or the money by morning.

However, the next morning, as soon as we woke up, the police took my friend and me into custody. Shockingly, we were charged with kidnapping and extortion. The police subjected us to severe physical abuse and made derogatory remarks against me, calling me an anti-Indian Kashmiri traitor. Since it was their local police station, they were heavily biased against us.

We are completely innocent. We never kidnapped anyone; the individual voluntarily stayed with us. We have all the necessary proof to establish our innocence. In fact, we treated him well, offering him food every day. Even in front of the police, he admitted that we had no money and no involvement in the matter. Despite this, the police framed us because his father had connections within the police station.

Currently, we have been granted interim bail for three days, but the investigating officer is threatening us. He is demanding money, warning that if we don’t pay, our bail will be canceled. Our lawyer, who has already taken β‚Ή2 lakh from us, is not properly representing our case in court. Instead of presenting the facts we instructed him to, he is demanding even more money.

We are in a terrible situation. We are feeling completely helpless, and the stress is becoming unbearable, even leading to suicidal thoughts. Please, if there is any way any lawyer can help us, we desperately need it.

          Lawyer here, based in Delhi.

This is a serious matter and needs careful handling. If you are out on interim bail in a case involving kidnapping and extortion charges, the priority now is to secure regular bail and ensure that your version of events is properly placed on record. If the person stayed with you voluntarily, and you have supporting evidence like hotel records, messages, or witnesses, that will be important for your defence.

As for legal representation, it is normal for lawyers to charge fees, especially in cases involving serious allegations. But if you feel your concerns are not being addressed or that your defence is not being presented the way it should be, you are always free to seek a second opinion or consider other counsel. The important thing is that you feel confident in the person representing you in court.
