At present I am working on a MNC. 2 days ago I connected with a programmer guy from other country, and he suggested a work on his SaaS project. I am copying some important conversations we had after I sent the result of a task that he gave me.

**Hey! Glad to see you moving forward on the AI side. Here’s the next step to officially integrate you into the project:**

**1. I’ll send you the NDA to protect the project confidentiality.**

**2. Then, you’ll receive the Revenue Sharing Agreement (5% base, adaptable depending on contributions).**

I told him that I need to talk to my manager, and he replied me this

**Right now, this is an open collaborative project focused on building an innovative maintenance & diagnostics tool.**
**We’re laying the groundwork for something scalable, but there’s no official company structure or revenue yet.**
**it’s more like contributing to open-source with potential upside later.**

**Once things solidify and if we move toward monetization (like SaaS), we’ll adapt agreements fairly for everyone involved**

I have decided to not tell my manger about this, as he might not like it, or give me some more work.

        My question is

If I accept this offer and work on this project without informing my manager, can I get into legal issues with my company? Will I be accused of moonlighting? My company is a MNC and has presence all over the world.

Should I accept this offer to contribute?

Truly speaking, I mainly want to upskill myself and learn, as of now, money is a secondary factor. So I want to work on some collaborative projects, and if the project involves an international team it would be a cherry on the cake.

A lawyer here. It depends on the terms of employment that you’ve signed with your current employer. If it bars any part or full time work, then it would constitute breach of employment conditions. If the t&c are silent, you are good to go.

It allows work but we need to talk to our superiors, in this case it is my manager. I don’t want to talk to my manager, due to the reasons I mentioned above.

So it will be better if I don’t contribute here right?

Not worth getting into legal issues at this tough job market?
