Want to know how to save a tree that is on someone else’s property

Hello, I am Shiva from Assam, India. There is an old sacred fig/ people tree at the back side of my house. It has been there for like 40-50 years. My parents and we too have grown up watching that tree. Every year many birds even migratory ones visit this tree.

But tree falls in someone else property. Its a long piece of land which is shared by members of one family. The tree is in the middle of it. There has not been any building or anything till now. But suddenly they decided to sell it or make a flat there. For this they will chop down the tree soon.

We really don’t want that tree to go down. It is so old and is a home to so many animals and birds. I cant imagine waking up and seeing it gone. Is there any legal measure we can take to save the tree as it is not our property. Please help 🙏
