What do I do?

I came to India in 2020, I rented my house in Hyderabad for 15 years while I was away. My house has 2 floors both with its seperate electric meters.
After 15 years, I came back, released my tenants and i am currently living in the house. Today, I got a notice from TGSPDCL stating that I have tampered with both electric meters. I have no evidence stating that I was not the one that it.

Will I be liable for this?

You will have proofs of wherever you were staying. If the meter is in your name there might be still liability but it will not be of tampering. Only financial.

The meter is in my father’s name, he passed away 4 years ago.

You’re not liable. Send a notice to electricity department stating that you’re out of country and the above said premises was on rent.

Also state that you need a new meter.

The local electrical team removed the old mater and took it for inspection.
