So I was driving my scooty without the HSRP plate and the officer gave me a challan of 2.5 k where 500 rupees was for number plate not being proper for 2000 for 179 (1). I searched it, it came up as lawful obstruction but I followed all orders from the officer. Please explain to me if I this challan is correct or not

I think the officer has done you a favour by reducing the fine.

179(1) is not applicable. Police love to add this clause wherever possible. Since when it is challenged, it’s your word against theirs in the court mostly. Unless there is a video evidence suggesting otherwise.
