Will police investigate an e-FIR for lost document ?

My parents need to file an FIR with Tamil Nadu Police to say they’ve lost some share certificates, so that we can apply for their dematerialisation.

My fear is – after filing the e-FIR for lost document, will the police come and check with my parents as to what been lost, where from etc ? Problem is my parents live in a joint setting with my father’s brother, and we don’t want them snooping.
