Witness and proof for divorce

I know a relative lady who is being emotionally, verbally and financially abused by her husband (both are 50+ year olds). They belong to lower class so the wife does not have any assets/money in her name.

I have heard that the husband is gathering evidence because he is planning to divorce her. But he is very cautious. He keeps checking her phone every few hours randomly, has told neighbours and his mother to watch where the wife goes. He has become very cautious, if he abuses her he does it in low voice so that nobody else can hear it. She is unable to record him talk because if she even takes her phone in her hand he forcefully takes it from her and checks it immediately. Does anyone else know of any other ways the wife can collect evidence?
