May 7, 2026 at 9:30 amAfter a 14-month long battle before the Delhi High Court we secured a significant victory today. OCIs can now also adopt under the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956 instead of being forced through the rigorous and often cumbersome CARA route. This issue had caused immense hardship for several OCI families who were being denied recognition despite being governed by Hindu personal law.
A huge thank you to this Reddit community as well. The discussions, support, shared experiences, and encouragement here genuinely helped us throughout this journey.
A big day for many present and future OCI parents.
