I 18(M) had a abusive narsacistic father that used domestic violence against my mother and me since the day I was born my parents got seaperated when I was 15 and has 2 court cases currently going on
1. A civil suit filled by my father claiming some real estate properties 4 properties solely in my mother’s name and 2 joint properties on the basis that their was no monetary contribution from my mother’s side.(Filled in October 24 and currently the court has granted a stay on selling any of the properties)
2. A divorce case filled by my mother (the first hearing would be in July and we have a evidence of almost everything and a very strong base of proof)
I was diagnosed with blood cancer on 15th April and have no insurance unfortunately the expenses till now we’re almost half borne by my father. But looking at his behaviour and as much as I know him he would not be supporting us anymore financially each chemo therapy is now costing around 18-22k every week which would eat up our savings faster than anything.
If we file a maintaince case on my behalf I had the following questions?
1. How would it benefit me as court proceedings do take time and I would require money as soon as possible
2.would a maintaince case reflect that my mother can’t support us financially or is not a competent owner of the properties in her name as she can’t afford the chemo treatment.
3. My father being manupilative has also offered to surrender all the properties and has promised to take care of all financial cost the properties are worth almost 5X the total cost of treatment
(We would be more than willing if the court can order my father to pay exact 50% of the treatment cost everytime)
Any advice would be appreciated.
