April 19, 2025 at 12:05 pmHey everyone,
I’m working on a startup idea and I’d love feedback from people in the legal, tech, or startup space — especially those familiar with India.*The Problem:*
Getting legal help in India is confusing, expensive, and time-consuming. Most people don’t know their rights, don’t know what kind of lawyer to approach, and can’t afford ₹5–10K just to send a legal notice.*The Idea (early MVP stage):*
A platform where users can:
– Chat with an AI legal assistant (on WhatsApp or web)
– Instantly generate legal documents like:
– Notices to landlords/employers
– Freelance payment disputes
– Harassment complaints, etc.
– Get basic legal guidance, templates, and next steps
– Escalate to real human lawyers only if the issue is complexIt’s designed to help middle-class Indians, tenants, gig workers, freelancers, and small business owners — people who often can’t afford or access legal help easily.
*What I’m trying to figure out:*
1. Is this a real gap in the market?
2. Would lawyers/law students be open to collaborating or helping train the system?
3. What legal/regulatory challenges should I watch out for if the tool generates documents but doesn’t claim to be “legal advice”?
4. What’s the best way to build trust in a sensitive space like law?Would love any honest feedback or criticism.
Also open to collaborating if you’re in the legal-tech space! Thanks in advance.
