January 24, 2025 at 9:56 amhello all,I have wrong surname of my parents in all my documents. I have been out of trouble because it’s consistently wrong throughout, however going ahead I can see some legal troubles when it comes to nominations, parents insurance, joint accounts, land registry etc.
Name in My documents:
My Name: A. Verma
Fathers Name: R. **Verma**
Mothers Name: S. **Verma**My parents name in their documents:
Mother’s Name: S. **Devi**
Father’s Name: R. **Kumar**Why it happened?
During schooling, there was very limited guidance, and parents were usually busy in farming or other things. I, in my childhood brilliance, thought that the family name should be same and put it as Verma in by 9th application form which is used for 10th board as well. Please don’t judge me, I was in 9th standard then and my mind couldn’t think about legality and all. On top of there was no one to supervise. And it kept on going afterwards.
I realised it during my graduation that it’s gonna cause trouble, but never could get enough time or had enough money to even think about this.
Now I am a working professional, living in hyderabad. My permanent residence is in Uttar Pradesh and all documents have that address.
Please give me some advice on how to go about changing my parents surname in my documents? Should I do it in Adhaar, PAN and passport first, or should i start with degrees or school certificates? Please guide.

I asked a similar question a few ago. It was not related to change the name but the intention to understand the problem if names are different in documents.I have some clarity now.
But to help you, in what documents you have names correctly? And in what docs name are wrong?

January 24, 2025 at 11:04 amBut their own documents have correct name??If that’s the case, start with Aadhar. And eventually it will help on other docs (PAN and Passport).
Education docs are tough bro.-
