The High Court and Supreme Court judges spend massive amounts of time reading the submissions and case laws from both the sides before passing the judgements.

A lot of their vacation days and weekends are utilised for the above.

It is the lower courts that keep giving continuances without application of mind. Allowing time should be a rare occurrence. However, in lower courts it is given too liberally. Which is abused by both parties to their advantage.
