There is some misunderstanding of the law from the OP. You won’t get treated the same just because you were defaulted.

They lie because people don’t want to rent to unmarried couples. The lies are the product of the society and I would classify it as a harmless lie. Similar to non veg people classifies themselves as veg only people.

If they have not committed the crime, respected the property, paid the rent on time then why should it bother you.

Vacating a couple just because they are not married? How are they the same as someone who does crime or does not respect the property.
