You think cops in a small village would listen to him.

See man this is a extremely unfortunate reality we have to live with……no point wasting your time changing the system and given the direction our nation is headed now, there is no hope…..its best you dont waste time and energy eventually you will have to pay mind as well do it timely.

Appoint some consultant and pay them if you want as a service fee to get this done but best not to waste time.

          Consider getting a X-Miscellaneous Visa.

Also for any visa its best you hire some sort of Indian Travel agent or a travel company there to get this done. You may have to pay a fee but the right agent will sort it out. Im surprised your boyfriend didn’t mention or organise this yet. Research just the agent well.

You can also contact Karl Rock a YouTuber who is a Kiwi living with his Indian wife in North India. He is a good guy Im sure he can give you advice. @iamkarlrock his instagram.

I strongly think you should not even think of giving up your US Citizenship as of now or ever. There is no saying if you would like to stay in Indian conditions long term or if your relationship status doesn’t change ever. You may have been here but first live off for four five years continuously at least before considering.

Honestly even if you did end up living in India forever still not giving up your US citizenship would be the best choice even for your Indian family, children….socially and financially.
