April 18, 2025 at 12:18 pmHi everyone,
During my younger brother’s pre-baraat (gurchari) ceremony, I lost my engagement ring (gold + diamond). It likely slipped off due to sweating while I was pulling out cash to throw in the air. Later, I realized the ring was missing. There were many kids around collecting the cash. One kid (let’s call him Kid B, around 10-12 yrs) initially said he saw another kid (Kid A, around 12-14 yrs) hide the ring under his foot and take it. Two other kids supported Kid B’s claim, and all of them aren’t closely acquainted with each other. However, Kid A and his family are flatly denying it and are now asking for proof. We’ve pressured them, but they insist they’ve questioned their son and are sure he didn’t take it.
Now, two days later, Kid B is suddenly saying he can’t remember who took the ring — we suspect he may have been influenced or scared into changing his statement.
We’re checking wedding videos and nearby CCTV, but one house with a camera is refusing to share footage.
We aren’t 100% sure, but there’s a 90% chance it was Kid A based on the consistency of initial witness statements. The ring holds deep emotional value for me, and I just want to do the right thing and find it.
What are my legal options here, especially since a minor is involved? Is filing a police complaint worth it, or is there another route I should try?
Would appreciate any insights. Thank you! Here is better version by Chat GPT
