Lawyer probably will charge $1-2k for paperwork. You then are both are free of each other and go wherever and do whatever.
Try doing this in India. You have no idea what’s in store. Refrain from listening to other side’s cute talk to pull you into India and there you will be served a full cocktail of fake complaints and court cases. FIR, BAIL, Fake cases are easy as ordering from Zomato. Then you have to show screenshots of messages that you never threatened her or asked for dowry and other bullshit.

EOh man, divorce in Indian courts is hellish. Any way you can get it done in US? Or quick and amicably in India?If there is friction in India, then I suggest you NOT travel to India until it’s all done as false police reports are easy there to squeeze men in divorce proceedings especially when families are involved. Prevention and distance from divorce proceedings in India is the wisest option.
Again, find a way to get it done in US and not drag yourself in Indian courts especially knowing when families get involved and it’s worst kind of misery.
If you have been married less than handful years, just get it done in US. Thank me later for this advise because divorce is a big business in Indian courts against men!
ENo, apart from the indian side of things you explained well that I sell it and move on, but these fuckers are sitting in US (age 82 and 92..) they CAN file complaints with authorities here and that I will have to respond to. Will it go anywhere? No, but the harassment per se.It’s just hard to reason with 82 and 92 year old. They are stuck in 1992 when I was a kid.

I have sent a power of attorney to a law firm and they will sell it and wire proceeds to US after paying required taxes.I asked this question here as I wanted a second opinion from India legal Q&A community on Reddit.
