I know about incident with a boy (possibly mentally ill). The mother always backed her son and even initiated divorce proceedings against husband when he suggested kicking son out. Mind you son was a full adult, older than 21 at the time.

This is absolutely true, you can’t expect your native culture in any institute that is outside you state. I would also add that the first demand, that 40% of the security be hired from a central agency to be problematic. One of the promises of bringing iits to new states is that they would provide employment opportunities to the locals. Maybe they can hire a central agency for oversight, but 40% non local security is a bad idea. I also think hat this guy is writing a one sided narrative (as non locals often do). We had a lot of such incidences in my own time in a southern institute, and more often than not, the non locals were being assholes to the locals (not just students) and then playing victims.

Upi servers were down a couple of days ago, Saturday morning, all the way to afternoon (atleast). I only received a transaction failed message this afternoon.
