In our college (also govt run) hostel and mess was inseparable, you cannot utilise one facility individually, you have to opt for both and pay for both. And I have never heard of any college where these two are separated.
Check your hostel terms and conditions. What they “said” or what you “heard” is irrelevant. Only what you agreed to in writing matters.
OYes and No.If the property was mortgaged, bank can take over the asset without court order. Otherwise, bank will need to go through bankruptcy procedure to take over the assets. Both are through SARFAESI act only.
Although, I doubt bank will go through such hassle for such a small amount (for the bank). In this particular case, it is likely an intimidation tactic.
My comment was more general in nature. I am absolutely fed up of people spreading the myth that Banks are completely powerless to recover unsecured loans. It encourages people to default on loans and ultimately honest borrowers bear the cost of increased provisioning and interest.
OPlease don’t speak without knowledge.If the house is registered with the same person who took the loan, the bank can absolutely go to court and take over the house under SARFAESI act, even if the house is not mortgaged with them. And that goes for any asset, not just the house.
OBecause it’s not about the number. of courts or lawyers.The current practices reward the lawyers to make more money by dragging a case rather than ending it quickly and stop the cash flow.
Until that is corrected, nothing is going to change.

OLoLAxis bank doesn’t care about the employees. Rest assured whoever made the mistake will be punished whether you claim compensation or not.
Also, I doubt it was a manual error because all these have been automated long back. Nobody is matching two excel sheets and checking whose funds were blocked and whose were not.
What’s more likely is that Axis doesn’t want to give you the compensation because, more than money, this will cause a reputation loss for them.
ONALIf you get married with proper rituals, the law will recognise it as a legal wedding even if you don’t register it.
This is like asking “will a theft be recognised as a crime if no one reports it”.
