If your lawyer is going with you, yeah then go ahead. Call your lawyer first and ask what their plan is – are they asking you to compromise mutually or will they try to quash FIR? Only after they give you a satisfactory answer, should you go.

Why did you write a letter? You should’ve not had to apologize, this is all scare tactics. The defamation case wouldn’t hold up in court, you should hire a lawyer and countersue them. You will be surprised how quickly they will fold when they realize you have hired a lawyer.
