But I think the guy made your people sign an agreement to sell and transferred the advance to your account. There is no easy way to get out of it. It is now a long legal battle for like 5-10 years. You have 2 options now. Either you actually settle for an amount lower the fair market value or fight the legal battle which will need time and money.

But if you can afford to spend the money and time it is better to fight because by the time you get through with this case the property will be of a much higher value as well.

Don’t go. It is very tedious and messy. Rather hire some random lawyer. He’ll at most charge you 500 and get it all settled.
