I have a close friend who was in similar situation. She also went through daily abuse from her ex-husband. She went through religious clerics to get khula.  Before that, she left and stayed with her own family. Her brother and family stood really strong with her. She did get everything back even when initially her ex-husband’s family didnt want to give back her jewellery and other personal things.
