SMake sure that you have mentioned in an official email that you are going on a maternity leave. I know you said your leaves are already approved but they are explicitly marked as maternity leave, right?
I have a very close personal relative who was laid off from a big very reputed US technoloy firm (one people use to grow their network) as she was yet to put leave request and verbally mentioned to her manager about the situation. Layoff came as a surprise.
SYes they can keep it just like that. It’s extremely common for phones not being allowed in schools. You should be thankful that school is atleast returning them. I heard of some schools who never returned the devices.Students are mischievous. I was. Doing something not allowed is what many students love to do to look cool. I will repeat, students should have got permission beforehand to keep the phone.
SHappened in my school too. No one was able to do anything until students passed 12th. The other comment suggesting parents need to negotiate is safest bet.if students needed to keep the phones for coaching centres, then they should have mentioned this before hand to the school.
