Here’s my problem with all the cop bashing. Indians are hard wired to bend the law whenever it’s convenient to them. Almost all Indians, including me and OP break multiple rules on daily basis.this hypocracy brings corruption.
We want our roads safe, but won’t follow rules. We don’t want want garbage, but won’t use dustbins. We will rush to stores who don’t pay taxes, so we can save some money, we wont carry own bags, but complain about polythenes..the list goes on.

For serious infractions , any Indian with any kind on contact will ring that person to sort out the issue without going to the police station. Many young people join the force, hoping to make a change, but the system kills their morals. Most politicians are literally goons. But the public find them a fit to lead them.

In this case, the OP didn’t pay because he was scared of the law, he did so cause the society finds it taboo, and he didn’t want his gf to face the problems. The cop benefitted of this situation. We can bash him all we want, but the problem is much deeper.
