Here in Pune, PMC compensates for the land acquired. I am not sure about others. But ideally, they should also compensate. It is your land.

We processed our home loan recently. SBI Pune gave us an option if we want to have their term plan? But they did not force anything on us. We told them that we have our own term plan and would like to stick with it and they were OK.

I guess it varies from branch to branch
