Try to gain a deeper understanding about her refusal to leave the toxic sibling. Most mothers just can’t leave a child behind no matter how much of a runt he/she is. If she’s hell bent on sacrificing herself for the sibling, there’s truly nothing you can do. Even you do manage to get her out, she’ll constantly keep trying to catch up on the sibling.

Thanks for the help. Just one last question if you don’t mind…

In order to challenge a will, does the challenging a party have to submit a court fee or other legit fee which would be a certain percentage of the total value of all assets involved in the will that is being challenged?

Would adding the caretaking neighbour as the nominee at the bank(sole or joint) in her accounts and FD’s have overridden whatever the distribution scheme would say in presence of her legit will?

What if the said will was an unregistered(no stamp paper) but notarised text document (not handwritten) with her and two witnesses’ signatures?

This may not work. My friend told me they discussed this route with some people they know. There’s no telling if B will ever withdraw their complaints or not continue to play such legal terrorism tactics on them if A decides to let go of all claims. Same thing happened with their distant relatives.

Was very well aware of all you said. Wouldn’t have bothered with such a lengthy post because a close childhood friend is stuck in all this through absolutely no fault of his own. I’m starting to worry about his mental health. Are you a lawyer though? Is it possible for my friend to get of this by simply, irrevocably letting go of all there is to gain from the disputed will? After all, inheritance of some serious assets is at the center of all this…
