Ok.So according to you I should go ahead and file for injunction even if the property is owned by the inlaws ?

Will discuss the 498a route with my lawyer.I don’t think that will be the case with my lawyer since the reference is given to me by a close friend of mine. But will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for the heads up.

I will be filing a DV case which would include getting maintenance.

I was told that a DV act can get me a residence order but it cannot stop them from selling the house.I will have to file an injunction which my lawyer is reluctant to file since he says that the property is owned by the in laws and it will be difficult to get a stay on the property.

I don’t want to fight dirty.Just wanna protect myself. My child is studying abroad and he is currently providing financial support to the child.

One of my friends had given me a reference for a lawyer. He says filing an injunction won’t help because the property is in the name of the in laws.He told me that I can file a DV act which would include a residence order but the residence order cannot stop them from selling the house.

Question is “Will I be able to get a stay if I file an injunction even if the property is owned by the in laws”?

They are not just threatening, they have put the house on sale(got to know from a property dealer who stays in the neighbourhood).I don’t want to send anyone to jail nor do I want to file fake cases.I just want to protect myself and don’t want to be left homeless
