I know that and have exhausted myself explaining to her that the fucking sugar pills she’s been giving him and wasting all that money is of no use. She fucking doesn’t get it and rather fights with me. Everything is so bleak. She’s busy fighting with him day and night when he talks shit, which he ofcourse would, given what schizophrenic people usually do. Making others feel sorry for her about how her husband suspects her of unfaithfulness and shit. Schizophrenia is a disease which makes it hard to distinguish whether the person is pretending, or is just like that or if he’s a victim of a mental condition until it gets so worse that it’s obviously a sign of mental illness. But once that happens, I suspect, it’s fucked up the person beyond repair. And hence I am panicking.

It’s a very common mental illness. 1% of the global population has it actually. I toh feel that most people who have mental illness either have this or OCD. Having said that, I think there’s plenty of info available on YouTube and Google if you really wish to know. My mum educated herself on this matter through YouTube only. More and more people need to know about it. Because patients with this disorder are often suspected of being possessed and what not. I personally wish to start an NGO on mental health awareness or maybe a club one I get into college which I don’t see happening given the kind of things I am witnessing because of his illness everyday now.

We live in Delhi. I felt that was important to tell. Nobody’s willing to do anything. We live in a nuclear family. Do have relatives. Matter of fact, they live in the house exactly behind ours and it’s ours only. But they’re hellbent on declaring him simply “mad” and just that he’s pretending to shirk all responsibilities. But it has been diagnosed that he has schizophrenia only. My mum visited IHBAS and they did say that it’s definitely that. Is there any way we can reach out to someone who can get him there and thereby professional help?

Getting the person to take meds is the hardest part actually. Unlike other diseases, you cannot just ask them to take meds. They’re in denial and what not. Even worse, they think you’re trying to poison them or trying to prove that they’re mad. The whole paranoia aspect of it makes everything so much fucking worse.
