OP you are absolutely correct and there was a recent study in Norway. I cannot find it.

It concluded that countries with high levels of gender equality (e.g., Scandinavian nations) tend to have lower instances of gender-based discrimination in legal matters. Laws related to custody, divorce, and criminal justice are generally applied more equitably when gender norms are more balanced
