January 20, 2025 at 12:57 pmYes I believe NPD could be at the core of most abusive marriages. In my case, my fiance put on the nice guy act for 6 months and literally the day we got married he turned into a different kind of monster. I’m glad my parents understood and I was able to escape from the situation and thankfully they agreed for mutual divorce..This person also stole the wedding gifts( 95% gifted from my family and definitely would be gold etc) and then went on to yell at me for being irresponsible for it going ‘missing’. We checked the CCTV footage from the wedding venue and saw him stashing the gift bag in his tuxedo garment bag.A lot of other nasty things happened in the span of 6-10 days that we were married. His true colours emerged and his mother is an overt narcissist.
He would call on the phone and literally force me to fight for hours until exhaustion for things that were at the core very silly arguments.I just couldn’t comprehend where the person I thought I was marrying had disappeared. Oh and to sum it up..just imagine when your bride asks you on the wedding day about how she looks knowing all the effort and hard work she put into it…only to be met with a response..” You look like a ghost” with absolute hatred.
I wish I lived in a cocoon where I was still not aware of NPD and didn’t have to face it in my life.
