Thanks this helped. What if he moves to a different country without filing for divorce. Will the case of abandonment still stick?

Genuine question. Since the OP is already at a loss anyway, even if he files for divorce he may still have to pay maintenance and alimony. So what happens if he moves to a foreign country, starts working there, and simply distances himself from his wife without even filing for divorce? Would that actually work out for him in the long run?
