February 10, 2025 at 1:08 pmHow does this even answer OP’s question? You don’t even know under which personal law or state law they were married under? What if they registered their marriage under American law (law of state in which they were residing), how does your advice assist OP?

February 10, 2025 at 1:04 pmThis is incomplete information – was the marriage registered under FMA? What personal law was applied. Please give us more details, so we can properly ascertain an answer.UUser_8d440df3

January 20, 2025 at 6:36 pmJust because abuse was common back then doesn’t justify it now. People didn’t have enough toilets to use back then, so does it justify defacating on the roads now?Second off, what legal advice does your comment contribute to OP’s question. The suggested advice would be to file a grievance with the state education ministry or with the school management then proceed to initiate legal action via an FIR or a compensation claim filed in a civil court, if satisfactory action is not taken.Till then an interim injunction can be filed to prevent the teacher from teaching till compensation is paid.
Child abuse is a serious crime – corporal punishment is a regressive concept. Merely not doing homework is not a justification to beat a child.

January 18, 2025 at 6:46 pmFIR can be filed even after OP turns 18, as the offence took place when OP was a minor. Criminal offences which are this severe usually don’t have limitations periods. Case will not be barred by limitation.January 18, 2025 at 6:41 pm in reply to: I am getting rape threats by college senior. Help me face it #71805UUser_8d440df3

January 18, 2025 at 6:41 pmI am assuming you’re in Tamilnadu. Please report to the child helpline or district child protection unit. Only do this if your college POSH/anti-ragging squad doesn’t help. Please also visit a one-stop centre, where a woman police officer will be present, they will guide you in filing a complaint with the mahila police if necessary. This will make the legal process easier for you. Please ensure that some action is taken, considering this is sexual harrasment and is a serious offence. Please use these resources to institute a complaint.

January 18, 2025 at 6:01 amSMA will supersede as it is the marriage of an interfaith couple. Personal laws cannot supersede SMA if the marriage is solemnized under SMA.For those confused as to how nikkah can be performed to a non islamic woman, in Islam those who are kitabiya, that is followers of the abrahamic faith, can validly marry muslims under islamic law. A marriage of a non-kitabiya is only irregular but not invalid. So a nikkah ceremony can be performed and a nikahnama can be created.
