UWhy would someone obtain a degree certificate in your name? My degree certificate, irrespective of fake/genuine must show my name else what’s the point of having it?

USorry to say that you’re asking for advice without giving very little info. What a layman would understand is a police verification is going on and you’re not in India.If the verification requisitioned expects you to be present in the location address you cannot pass.
If it as an address verification, a supporting document needs to be shown.
The relatives must answer the questions satisfactorily. “his name is Ravi but we call him Raju and people call him Billa” and “this is his father’s house and he sometimes stay here” kind of answers will definitely land him trouble.
Uthe scope of the term “forgery” must be evaluated in this case. Although forgery in its normal sense is well-known and all the documents she does have are officially issued, there are provisions in the to cover this aspect.The authorities have issued these documents under the impression that she’s an indian citizen. But if the prosecution can prove that she’s not an indian citizen on the dates of issue of the said documents, she’ll be in real trouble my friend. Obtaining official documents by furnishing false information is not a petty offense.
