Wife’s pregnant currently. There’s dual marker test at week 12. It gave low risk for down syndrome. No action taken
16 week scan- calcium deposit in child’s heart. Low risk marker but since two risk markers so suggested for NIPT or amniocentesis.
Nipt- blood test, can be done anytime. Result will take 2 weeks. 98% accuracy for detection. Also sample failure rate of 4% so might take two more week for final result.

Amniocentesis – invasive procedure. Sample is taken from fluid surrounding the child. Risk percentage of 0.5%. Result in 4 days. 100% accuracy
Can have one more test along with this same sample for more detailed risk profile.

We took the invasive procedure path to relieve us of mental tension as soon as possible.

Got the result for down syndrome and detailed gene profile one as well before 19 th week is finished.
