Avg time for SC to accept or reject a petition on hearing day is few minutes or less than that. A petition that compares direct tax and indirect tax will be thrown out in <5 seconds. I understand the sentiment but target should not be tax but wastage of it.

I do not know what is he trying to achieve by reducing just 10k. In fact he will be in trouble if you turn around and say you will only pay what has been agreed on paper which is 30k. It should not impact you, he is trying to evade tax.

There is a saying in judicial circles in India, if you believe you have a strong case then settle it outside the court, if no then go to court so that matter is stretched for decades!
Another big learning in civil disputes is that when opponent fails, they always resort to tampering records like patta or other revenue records. Prudent would be to send legal notice respective court documents and make it part of their records.
