‘Conservative’ is a bit broad. There are many conservative people with strong values. ‘Controlling’ is a bit more accurate. But he does fall into the category.

I am radically progressive and I know people who are very progressive and also very controlling at the same time.

Everyone is so damn controlling to a certain degree. Too many people are control freaks, judgemental and forget that human experiences are so unique and personal. Let people be!!!!

I am so glad that you came out of that cage. Text your neighbour/friends you are safe and dont want to be contacted by your parents. Open an email account may be so that you can connect with them if needed if things are desperate.
