Lawyer here . The notice is not sent to your house . It is pasted on a clipboard in the marriage registrar office . Your family won’t come to know unless they are actively looking at that particular clipboard . Plus you’re an adult . Even your parents can force it against your will . You will receive police protection ; If you are from Mumbai then do contact me for your marriage requirement.

First thing would be to move out of the residence with all your streedhan and documents . Ideally back to your parents place. Next thing . Write the incidents of abuse in depth , this will aid your advocate in drafting the complaint . If there are no children then it’s a better scenario compared to one where there are children involved. If you cannot approach your parents ,then there are women centric domestic violence cells in police station , They will help you , besides the police , Ngo and women hostels will accommodate you as well .

Married or not , men can be accused of wrongful deeds anyways . There are only certain steps that one can take but they are not accusation proof.
