Yes. Even then. The law is very much settled on this matter.

The fact that you sent inappropriate messages to the woman lands you in hot water. There is a high chance that your career will take a hit because of this. However, you’re not remediless.

Get the FIR quashed once it is filed. And file for anticipatory bail.

As far as the POSH case is concerned, you are not allowed legal representation before the committee. However, you retain the right to take advice from one.

Gather all evidence you have with relation to this issue.

Emancipation laws don’t exist in India. Which means, legally, you won’t be able to disassociate with your parents. Furthermore, once your parents are over 60, they’re entitled to receive maintenance from you.

However, you’re an adult. You have every right to leave and stop associating yourself with them. So, I’d advise you do that. Take control of your life.

Without proof, it is virtually impossible to get this money back legally.

It is time to cut him off.

                Supreme Court advocate here:

All of this depends entirely on the level of care that was advertised and exercised by you. If the belongings were left in your care, you’re responsible. If they are not in your care, you are not responsible. It might be called upon question whether you took all reasonable steps to ensure theft preention.
What is going to happen in your case will depend entirely upon the material facts of your case.

I would advise you to compensate the person and throw in a gift voucher and put this matter to rest. Following this, put up sign boards that say thay you are not responsible for the belongings of your guests; this will insulate you from such claims down the line. Lastly, make sure your cameras are working. If they aren’t, it’s just bad business practice. Do the right thing and focus on maintaining the goodwill of your customers.
