ETake a EU passport till your divorce is done and get your country’s embassy involved if Indian courts are unjust in dealing with your divorce. You can always argue that since you are a non-citizen you would like to have the divorce case resolved in your EU country’s courts. You can get a good lawyer who can delay the proceedings using your foreign citizenship and thereby forcing the other party into a much lenient out of court settlement. Your job is half done as long you can make the other party believe that you can stay forever in foreign shores (due to your EU country’s citizenship) and thereby rendering the judgement of Indian courts ineffective. As soon as your country x wife believes this, she and her lawyer will be more than willing to come to an out of court settlement.
But the bigger question is can you an EU passport when you have pending 498A in India as surely you will not get a clean character certificate from Indian Police (which I guess is a requirement for your citizenship approval in your EU country).
EI think 498A can be applied irrespective of religion. Just that their divorce process is much different and heavily in male favour so forget settlement or getting your dowry amount back.
