While driving in my village, I accidentally found myself on the wrong side of the road. My relative, who is new to the village, was in the car with me. A police officer was stationed at an intersection and allowed me to pass. However, when he noticed a car with a different city number plate, he stopped them.
I approached the officer to inquire about the reason for the stop, and they informed me that, due to the wrong-side driving, a fine of Rs. 2000 would be issued. I responded that it was acceptable to issue fines for both vehicles online, as we preferred to address the matter once the fines were processed.
The officer warned us about the possibility of a court case, which would require both of us to appear in court multiple times. I assured him we were willing to proceed with filing the challan. The officer then suggested that we could avoid this by paying him 500, but I insisted on receiving an online challan, questioning why he would offer such an alternative.
I requested to see the officer’s identification card and badge number, as I couldn’t see them clearly. He declined to show them and attempted to enter my relative’s car, where an elderly person was seated in the front. I intervened, questioning his behavior, and decided to call the police emergency number to report the situation. Once the officer realized I was making the call, he quickly left the scene.
