You showing the ticket to the staff would have made them realize their mistake and they would have apologized to you then and there publicly.
Even if they didn’t apologize, you showing your ticket would have humbled them as people were watching. Either ways, you were on the winning side.
Everyone makes mistakes, could be rude staff, could be a bad day, we never know.
