Priority #1 is getting a competent lawyer involved as soon as possible. They will guide the legal response and help with bail

        2. Gather All Evidence Now

Videos: Collect every video from bystanders. Get original copies, not forwarded versions. These can disprove molestation claims and show your friend acted in self-defense.

Witnesses: List all witnesses and get written/recorded statements with their contact info. Try to get a couple of them to visit the police station with you or the lawyer.

Location Evidence: If the place has CCTV (shops, buildings nearby), rush to them early morning—CCTV often gets overwritten in 24–48 hours.

        3. Medical Reports (if any)
If your friend was injured (even slightly), get him medically examined and obtain a report. It helps show that he was assaulted first.

        4. Avoid Any Direct Contact with the Girl or Her Family
Don’t approach them directly—it can be used against you. Let your lawyer handle any communication.

        5. File a Cross FIR or Counter Complaint (if advised by your lawyer)
Your lawyer might advise filing a complaint showing:

Your friend was the victim of assault.

The molestation charge is false and malicious.

The incident is being misused for extortion or harassment.

        6. Involve Local Influential People (Carefully)
If you know any respected local figures (journalists, social workers, etc.), their support might help pressure the police to act fairly—especially if your friend’s family is poor and might face bias.

“Just curious—how did the police get your friend’s home address? How did they know where your friend lived?”

I was curious to know what kind of legal action Godrej could potentially take against the OP and how or where Godrej or Flipkart might pursue such legal action?
