If anybody threatens you make sure to file a police complaint. Take a lawyer along while filing a complaint.

ULegally there is not much you can do as current rules don’t allow for compensation if cancelled with more than 24 hours before the travel time.I agree that there should be stricter rules.
Word of advice never book SpiceJet under any circumstances. They are the worst of the lot.
I remember I had booked a flight when they had almost shut under the previous owner the maran family( before Ajay Sharma took over). When we landed in Mumbai the airline did not have money to pay the aero bridge or fuel charges for the bus and we could not deplane for an hour. Decided never to travel again by spicejet
