UNot entirely sure, but it is best not to share PAN info. Using Tax filing software you can fetch someone’s entire financial report due to ITR. Do ask him what is the need for PAN information and if he would share his PAN card if the rent amount is greater than 8k.UIf you cancel it it will eventually go back into the pool and to the next person. UTechnically they cannot do much against you. If the number successfully moved from one user to another then the ownership changes. The new application along with the date is enough to prove you are not the same person. However, anyone who has been impacted can still harass you. Best you can do is block them.
