You’re diverting the issue. When a girl is missing, it’s an entirely different situation. Even in those cases, if she willingly wants to be with the boy, her parents cannot take legal action against either of them.

In this case, the girl is present, and only she can file a complaint related to the relationship—either on her own or with the help of her parents. However, her parents cannot file a complaint against the boy without her consent. She would need to record her statement in front of the police and court, and a medical examination would also be required.

So, if the girl is with the OP, there’s no reason to worry about legal action.

A lawyer would guide you better, but as far as I know, the High Court rarely calls the victim to re-record their statement. Can it happen? Yes. Will it happen? I don’t think so.

Unfortunately, the judiciary often tends to favor the girl, and in most cases, you may end up covering court expenses and lawyer fees. If you ask me, I’d advise you to have your lawyer speak with her lawyer to arrange a proper settlement. It would be best if you settled the matter by paying her accordingly.

There’s no way Section 354 IPC gets compounded. The only way out is if the witnesses and the victim change their statements in court, leading to the case being dismissed.

I think you should wait for the police to hand over the PMR copy to you. The police are generally supportive in such matters. Call the SHO around 10–12 days after the autopsy. If they are not cooperating, only then should you send someone to speak with the SSP. Other than that, there’s no need to go door-to-door, especially when you know the police can’t provide the PMR copy without a delay of 10–12 days.

As far as I know, every term insurance policy covers suicide after one or two years.

The autopsy report is first sent to the SSP of the concerned district, which takes about a week to reach the police station. This delay is part of the standard process.

Once the PMR (Post-Mortem Report) reaches the SHO, they will review it. If the doctor finds no signs of foul play, no further investigation will be required. The SHO will then provide you with a copy of the PMR, which you can use to obtain the death certificate and file any insurance claims, if applicable.

Did you mention the harassment part in your statement? Did you read what was written?

Which city is this incident taking place in? If he tried to touch you inappropriately, then why haven’t they added Section 74 BNS (354 IPC)? Ask them what proof they require. Has your statement been recorded? I’m a police officer myself, and it seems like they are under some kind of pressure; otherwise, you shouldn’t have had to struggle this much.

If you want a settlement, don’t ask for it directly. Instead, let the payment default. The lender will eventually approach you to settle the account, putting you in a stronger position to negotiate. Legally, they cannot do much, and the process is lengthy, so they are more likely to propose a settlement.

If they misbehave with you in any way, record their behavior and seek police assistance. Additionally, you can refer to RBI guidelines to understand your rights.

Note: I personally settled my credit card amount using this approach, and it worked perfectly for me. Good luck!

Do you even understand what Section 498A is? Are you aware that almost the entire law was changed last year? Additionally, do you know that the current legal code has only 358 sections, meaning there is no longer a Section 498A?
