          While it is possible to have a good and fulfilling career in IP, I wouldn’t recommend building your specialisation in a core IP practice, unless it’s something that you’re terribly interested in.

          A lot of IP work can be repetitive and mindless, especially in trade marks. Copyright isn’t enough to build a whole career on, but is a useful skill to have in other fields, like TMT. Patents is already kinda saturated with people who have engineering / science degrees on top of their law degrees and just understand inventions better than you would, without years of experience. IP litigation across all of the above is pretty good if you’re working for a specialist firm like Anand & Anand, Remfry & Sagar, etc.

          From an experience perspective, working for the IP team at a well-known law firm might not be as good as working for a well-known IP firm.

          That being said, do not feel disheartened and go for the internship. You still have plenty of time to figure out your niche and at this point, it will only broaden your horizons, not restrict them.
