He must prove that he has completed the work and more over did you get any legal notice and what are specific allegations that are against you. And DO you have the documents of case and so that we can have perfect defense depends on the allegation against you.

It might does not harm you. But for a safe side try to hire a lawyer and get a full and proper legal opinion. So you might not end up in trouble and litigation in future.
